Dima

The most famous mammoth in the world happens to be a baby. Dima was only 6 - 9 months old when he fell into a soft sediment bog 40,000 years ago and was unable to escape. The oxygenless environment insured excellent preservation. In this unique case Dima's entire body mummified in what eventually became permafrost in Siberia.
